       When the voltage to be measured is applied to the main winding, the current through the main winding creates a magnetic field. This magnetic field passes through the secondary winding, which, according to the law of electromagnetic induction, generates an electromotive force proportional to the current in the main winding. This electromotive force can be measured through a terminal on the secondary winding to obtain information about the voltage to be measured. Because the secondary winding of a miniature voltage transformer usually has only a few turns, its output voltage is small. In order to improve the measurement sensitivity, high-precision measuring instruments are often used to read the output signal.
